In my freshman year of college, Samuel Ramsey was my Biology Class TA. Though I ended up dropping out of the Biology major, I made an incredible friend in Sammy. Over the years, I found myself more and more drawn to his studies in Entemology. When I got my first camera, he was one of the first people I knew I had to photograph. Years later, Sammy obtained his PhD and was gaining wide recognition for his work studying diseases amongst bees. It had been years after I published these images of Sammy when Time Magazine, Scholastic and the National Wildlife Federation approached me about publishing them!
